You'll plumb it with coolant (the water-antifreeze solution in your vehicle's radiator) and it's also the fuel pickup for the tank. All connections are external to the tank, via the 3 - 1/2 ports on the top of the HotFox, thus there's no danger of coolant leaking into your tank from an internal connection. The HotFox heats the fuel two ways - by immersing the larger tube of coolant in the tank, and via heat exchange as the fuel is drawn up through the center of this larger tube, in a 2nd, 1/2" diameter tube. 

No flimsy copper loop that reacts with vegetable oil. (See the article by Joe Beatty on our Learn More page about copper, oversized in-tank heaters, too much heat in the tank, looped return, etc.!) We have said basically what he is saying for years - there are certain things you can do to minimize degradation of vegetable oil and avoiding use of copper and excessive heating at the tank are among them! No modified transmission cooler, no modified heating coil from the plumbing and heating supply house, this is the real deal, an easily installed in-tank heater built originally to give reliable service in heavy duty trucks. Can be mounted vertically in from the top of the tank, mounted horizontally in from the side, across the bottom of the tank (as us for tips if you intend to try this). One of our dealers has successfully mounted a Hotfox horizontally in a stock VW Tdi New Beetle tank, and then used our start/purge Donut tank that goes inside a spare tire, thus giving the customer a solution for all weather with no loss of trunk space, and with spare tire in it's stock location.
