Vormax coolant-heated two-stage water separator/filter with filter restriction gauge, comes complete with filter element (spare elements sold separately). Vormax pictured here with OverNighter (sold separately). Integral mounting flange for easy bolting to radiator support, frame rail, bracket, tank flange, etc. Mounting point is at the *top* of the filter, this generally makes for easier mounting. The Vormax can often be mounted behind the driver's side headlight *in a Mercedes* using our MBVMBR or in a trunk or pickup bed using the optional trunk-mount bracket. ( FITTINGS and MOUNTING BRACKET SHOWN ARE INCLUDED ONLY WITH KITS, NOT WHEN PURCHASED AS INDIVIDUAL COMPONENT). Why Our Filters Should Be On the Vacuum Side of Any Lift Pump: The Vormax (and the VegMax), like all Racor filters with water-blocking elements, are designed to be installed on the suction side of any 12V or mechanical lift pump - if there's any free water in your fuel, the pressure of the pump will create a water-fuel emulsion, which won't drop out into the drain bowls of the filters where you can drain it out. Also, if the free water is turned into an emulsion, it will not swell the Aquablock filter media of the R90T element or the water-blocking element of the VegMax. Instead, the water-fuel emulsion can get pushed through the filter media and end up in your fuel system post-Vormax. NOTE: The Vormax now ships with the R90T. If you are ordering a Vormax *and* an Overnighter, you do not need to order any R90T elements unless you simply want to have some spares on hand. Not all bowls shipped with Vormax fllters and R90T filter elements have a 9/16" fitting. Unless you pull the small plug and confirm that the outside diameter of the threaded portion of plug is in fact 9/16" you either have to drill and tap the bowl (tap is a 9/16" x 18) or buy a new bowl from us. Dimensions of a Vormax 12" left-to-right, including the two 90-degree fuel/coolant-to-3/8" ID barb elbows we include when you are buying as part of a kit, but not if you just buy the Vormax alone (one at each end of the Vormax) x 11-3/4" from the top of the aluminum shroud around the top of the vacuum gauge to the bottom of the drainvalve on the clear Lexan prefilter bowl (and 11" tall everywhere except the shroud at the gauge ) x 7-1/8" front-to-back to the front of the gauge shroud, and 6" front- to-back to the front of the coolant elbows on the front. The Vormax Truck Bracket adds 3/16" to the front-to-back measurement and 2-1/8? to the overall height. The 10 micron Racor Aquabloc R90T filter elements that ship with the Vormax are of considerably larger capacity than the standard filter elements used in kits offered by our competitors. Greater dirt-holding capacity and more filter media mean less restriction when the filter is cold, longer life of filter elements, especially when coupled with the prefilter/water separator stage of the Vormax as the first stage of filtration! The Aquabloc coated filter paper also repels water. Water and sediment collect in the clear drain bowl at bottom of filter, provide ease of detection of any problems of water in fuel (read our article Used Cooking Oil the Easy Way on the home page of our site for details on what we recommend for oil and oil pre-treatment practices). The Vormax first stage acts as a sedimenter at low flow rates and has a cyclonic action at higher flow rates. Both are commonly accepted and effective filtration principles. Following that first stage with a large, high quality, Aquabloc filter element provides superior filtration and water separation. See the "detailed photo" (scroll down to bottom of page) for a picture of the R90T element with the standard, much smaller, elements supplied by our two main competitors in North America! Dimensions of Greasecar's standard filter: 3" diameter x 5" long, Frybrid's standard filter: 3-1/4" diameter x 5-1/8" long, PlantDrive's standard R90T filter: 4-1/4" diameter x 7-1/4" long.
